Not far from where we live there is a statue of the largest crocodile ever killed (8.5 m long) back in the days when hunting crocs was still a thing (back in the 50's or 60's I think). This statue is a representation of how big the croc was based on the dimensions taken at the time. Croc numbers diminished quite a bit over the years they were hunted, however now since crocs have been protected for many years their numbers are increasing, and so are their sizes. I've heard reports from quite a few sober people about evidence of one (or more) crocodiles in our region that are approaching the 10 m size. Certainly there are many that exceed the length of the average fishing boat (about 5 m). I look forward to seeing some evidence of it in the future (hopefully a photo from a safe distance).
