Anime & Manga

Random question, but has Baldur's Gate aged well? Do you think someone who is a big fan of RPGs would enjoy a first play through in 2017?

Baldur's Gate 2, definitely. The first one not so. The game mechanics can be really dumb by today's standards (rolling dice 10 minutes to create a char, saving throw vs wands). And it's a single playthrough; you'll get bored on the second time.

But let's put the epic scale this way:

You can own your own fortress - thieves guild, castle, mage thing, all specific to your character class.

Characters all react to one another and with you. It's infamous for being a game where you have romantic relationships with your party members, but sometimes they try to kill each other.

Really nice major side quests, tomb raiding, genies, a companion being cursed to sex change. There is a wish spell, where you can wish for anything you like, but the character's wisdom comes into play that prevents the wish from getting corrupted. It's hard to describe but in BG2, they're a mini world of their own. It's similar to Fallout 4, where you can get lost in a quest branch, but BG2 puts more detail.

Also the dragons and liches are properly epic, unlike in Skyrim. Actually all the monsters are pretty fucking scary - drow, illithid, beholders, high level mages.

Okay that sounds fantastic. Thanks for such a detailed response, I'm going to go look for a copy now

And it's time to drop down the next part of the anime write-up. Welcome to Part 4.5: Shitshow special! For this part only, instead of a 0-10 rating, I'll write down out long I managed to last before dropping the show.

Magic-Kyun! Renaissance (~7 minutes, didn't even finish the first episode)

I could see how this show might appeal to certain people. I'm under the impression now that the whole show only consist of handsome, sexy men hitting on the female main character. However, I am not gay nor am I into what looks like Yaoi shit so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bishoujo Yuugi Unit Crane Game Girls (~15 minutes, about 3 and a half episodes)

Decided to watch the first season so plz don't berate me

Anyhow, holy fucking shit, I laughed so hard at how absurd the plot is. So you divert asteroid heading towards earth by winning.. crane game? What the fuck lmao.
If I ever start drinking then this will probably be the show I binge watch while drunk

And you're saying that they made a second season? What the fuck

You watched way more than me.

More drops from this season

82348.jpg

ēlDLIVE, watched 5 episodes, is exactly the same plot of Men in Black, fails to offer anything but eternal mediocrity.

83933.jpg

Nyanko Days, watched 5 episodes, oh an anime about cats... FUCK! They are humans with cat ears, FUCK YOU ANIME! At least is super short (2 min but 1 is OP/ED).

mfw trying to watch anime for part 5 of the writeup

giphy.gif

Welcome to Part 5 of why the fuck did i even think this is a good idea jesus fucking christ someone end my suffering plz

Ao Oni The Animation (dropped/10)

Show is essentially a "what the fuck is going on" show. Feel like the only way to "redeem" this show is make it much more violent and bloody

Gi(a)rlish Number  (dropped again/10)

Not much to say about it, it's meh but not my type of show

Long Riders! (dropped faster than the idiots going over Niagara fall /10)

Folding bikes seriously?

Bernard-jou Iwaku (dropped faster than the burning of the Library of Alexandria/10)

what the fuck did i just watched

We're.. we're almost there.. just a few more shows to go before i could finally end this thing

Half season, time to start with opinions on shorts

83452.jpg

Koro-sensei Quest! Chara from Assassination Classroom in a fantasy world parody of a rpg game, I think it's a BD special, watchable but average.

83113.jpg

Yami Shibai 4th Season Since it's the 4th season there isn't too much to say, they adapt japanese horror stories, nothing special but still worth since it's only 4 min. per episode.

83098.jpg

Piace: Watashi no Italian Anime about italian cuisine, Japan best ally, watchable because short (yes, you can say this for at least half of the short anime)

And now on sequels

83418.jpg

Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen The first season followed the manga but then did an original ending, this season starts were they stopped following the manga and not at the end of the first season, and this is good, now we have a good manga adaption, ok animation, good chara, potential to be good.

74606.jpg

Dragon Ball Super On hold waiting to be able to watch it with friends. Every time I download the new episode get a spoiler because of their idiotic episode titles.

83188.jpg

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 Yeah ok, Studio Deen QUALITY, but doesn't looks bad with a comedy anime, and this one has quality comedy, can be better than the first season but we need more Megumin.

83263.jpg

Nanbaka (2017) More Nanbaka is welcome, this season is serious shit so I think this can be better than season 1.

83782.jpg

Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation Oh yeah give me more cycling, I don't like Onoda and his classic underdog status who wins with the power of friendship and the rest of shonen clichés but I guess he's necessary, everything else is just great.

83934.jpg

Little Witch Academia (TV) Not really a sequel but a TV series to make money since the two movie adaptions are popular and very good, studio trigged did a great work with the animation, it's a reaction face factory, I like to see less Akko and more Sucy that is the best girl.

And now for Part 6, the final part of my "watch Micchan's anime suggestion" and rate it by my impression of the first 3 episodes

Shuumatsu no Izetta (6/10)

In a world that totally doesn't resemble World War 2 in any shape or form, the totally fictional nation of "Germania" decided to invade a completely fictional nation guarded by... a witch who uses an anti-tank rifle to fly because apparently, brooms are too mainstream.

Honestly, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Here to hopping that it doesn't go downhill after episode 3

Luger Code 1951 (5/10)

It's alright, plot seems a bit cliche though. The fact that it's a one part short saved it from getting an abysmal rating

Brave Witches (Dropped/10)

*watches the first 5 minutes*

what the fuck did I just watched?

What a ride, the whole thing took way more time than I expected. It's probably from the fact that I went back to finish watching some of the show and from the fact that a few of the shows are just a torture to watch. Here's an overall summary of the list.

Shows that I finished watching or watched until the latest episode (aka, really enjoyed it)

JoJo Diamond is Unbreakable

Drifters

All Out!!

Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan

To Be Hero

Zaregoto

Nanbaka

Shows that I plan to (eventually) finish watching in the future

3-gatsu no Lion

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku

Shuumatsu no Izetta

Bloody hell, it's over, I really need some good anime to watch now so I can recover from this ordeal. Ask me if you want a short write-up on the show I finished watching. I can't be assed to write one for every single show.

Here to hopping that it doesn't go downhill after episode 3
It does.

Brave Witches (Dropped/10)
It's a sequel of Strike Witches, that's way you don't understand what happens.

You can start the new season of Nanbaka since you watched and liked the first.

Even though it's probably not the case, it's look as if they just go "alright, we're going to have to amputate both your legs and attach plane propeller to it so you can fight off the damn aliens"

Also, already went ahead and caught up with the latest episode of the new Nanbaka. it's pretty good

Tiger Mask W Now it's just a huge spot for New Japan Pro Wresling, I had expectations and I'm a bit disappointed.

82901.jpg

3-gatsu no Lion Slow sometimes and not knowing the game is an handicap but I like it, improves with time.

78649.jpg

All Out!! Doing good, I like it, a bit too emotional but I like how they give a backstory to everyone and care about all the players.

81588.jpg

Kubikiri Cycle: Aoiro Savant to Zaregototsukai Watched another episode, classic "let's find the killer in this remote island istead of calling the police", not very interesting tbh, Shaft is doing a good job as usual but I don't feel involved.

And finally opinions on new anime part 1

83776.jpg

ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka Espionage and politics with a style quite comfy, not for everyone but worth of the 3 episodes rule.

83185.jpg

Akiba's Trip The Animation There are aliens that can transform people in strong zombies and to defeat them you have to remove their clothers, and the main group is also infected and if they lose their clothers they die, and everything is insede Akiba so they do nerdy things, and I hate the blonde girl, and martial arts, and fanservice, and... and... 1344821242420.jpg

83417.jpg

Demi-chan wa Kataritai Surprise of the season? Surprise of the season. Like Monster Musume, but without the lewd part. Demi are sort of monsters, they are rare but the world it's ok with that, the MC is a professor who want to know more about Demi people so he talks with his Demi students (and teacher) in the only school with Demi in Japan, we have the vampire girl, the snowgirl, the succubus, and the dullahan, cute, funny, and comfy things happens and all the characters are good.

82590.jpg

Gabriel DropOut Angels and demons must graduate, so they have a "stage" on earth where they live among humans as students, but when they are on the earth the best angel get corrupted by vidya, the demon can't do bad things, etc.

Cute, funny, and comfy things happens and all the characters are good (yes, that's a copypaste from Demi-chan), you just have to remember that Satania is the best girl.

Part 2

83173.jpg

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon A drunk girl saves the life of a dragon, the dragon falls in love with her and transform into a girl to live with her, so we have a slice of life but with dragons, comedy and cute things, KyoAni doing a good job again, recommended.

83709.jpg

Masamune-kun no Revenge The MC was a fat kid bullied by a girl, now he's fit, smart and popular, he want to go in the same school of that girl (she's still a cunt), win her heart and then broke her heart and complete his revenge, good premise but he will fall in love with her nad ignore the best girl as usual, STOP DOING THIS JAPAN!

83758.jpg

Onihei Samurai working as police/security, not every episode is good but has some interesting stories, different from the usual anime.

84119.jpg

Urara Meirochou Cute girls doing cute things (and showing their belly, good if you have this fetish), ok anime but nothing special.

82890.jpg

Youjo Senki A guy dies and he's now in a fantasy world very similar to Europe in WWII, and he's in a loli body with magic powers, god has sent him there for reasons. So he's now a loli fighting during the war with magic powers and she's literally Hitler with her soldiers, good animation, nice story, recommended.

And that's all.

Youjo Senki is pretty much the only anime in the list i've been following. Who would've though evil loli doing evil things is pretty fun

I want to watch a lot of these but could never find the time. So I'll just have to settle for reading the synopsis.

Two movies I watched

75905.jpg

Karigurashi no Arrietty Nothing awesome but another nice movie by Studio Ghibli, Arrietty is a... lilliputian? Gnome? They are called borrowers and are small humans living under an old house and take things that humans lose or no longer use, one day a human boy finds Arrietty etc. etc.

Very good animation.I recommend

Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen Chapter 2 of the trilogy prequel of the Monogatari series, and it's awesome again, my husbando Araragi is sexier than ever 1354046792001.jpg

I'm a huge fan of Monogatari so like the first movie we have another 9-9.5/10
