Tri-Color Rotini is the best. Don't even try to argue.

Best pasta is self made fresh fettuccine of course. Extra salty!

Normally I'd go for penne, but it also depends on what dish I'm making. Except for fregola which is just awful tasting.

I am disappointed in you people. Pasta is all the same regardless of shape. It's how and with what it is cooked that makes it taste different.
Those matter too but you can't tell me you've never tried the same dish save for the pasta and thought it tasted exactly the same? Or tried it without sauce? I'm sticking to my guns. They taste different not just because of what you said but also because of the shapes.

Do Different Shapes Taste Different? In theory, pasta made from the same dough will taste the same when cooked properly. The shape will not make a difference in the taste of the noodles but it will impact the taste of the overall dish you are cooking.Feb 11, 2019

Some uncited randomly bolded in weird places quotation will not change my mind.

crosses arms

Is maccheroni and fettuccine, not macaroni and fettuccini

Lasagne aren't a type of pasta but only one component of a dish

Ravioli are filled pasta so they are also another category, a great category in my opinion

Anyway

long pasta: spaghetti

short pasta: fusilli

stuffed pasta: agnolotti piemontesi
