with burning you'd lose consciousness quite quickly. with drowning you are there till the end.

Depends on how the fire is set up. If it burns slowly around you it can be quite painful - burning the feet until you pass out or reach combustion level of heat.

but the smoke will render you unconscious.
I guess that's why people use city squares - to have a lot of open air and ventilation. It really depends on the set up and skill / evilness of the executioner. Sometimes the burnee (is that even a word?) was hanged above the fire stake. That way s/he'd be grilled at first until reaching combustion. But we should test the theory if a person would lose consciousness quickly due to lack of oxygen. Any volunteers?

Drowning would be less painful you would think so I'll take it.
I heard a talk on the radio by someone who was caught in a tsunami. She said drowning was definitely a very painful way to die. That's why a lot of people who have drowned have such an agonized look on their faces. She didn't die, but passed out from the pain eventually.

I think it depends on whether you gasp for air and end up sucking more water into your lungs. And polluted salt water is perhaps much more painful than fresh water.

If you don't actually "breathe in" the water, your body will "close" your lungs and force the water into your stomach. That's probably much less painful.

If you burn to death, the pain receptors quickly burn away. And people are rather flammable, so it might not take too long if it was really hot. I saw this on some documentary about what hell would be like, and that the guardians of hell would probably have to replace your skin every now and then.

Having been on fire and have the scars from the skin grafts to prove it. It was without a doubt the most painful thing I have ever experienced. I'd much rather go through drowning than ever experience being on fire again.

for some reason I'd like to die experiencing extreme pain like burning alive. If I was definitely going to die, I'd pick burning.

  1. Pick death by burning
  2. Hug my arch nemesis
That's is what I'll probably do. There seem to be a sense of irony in it.

That is a strange fetish. Would you rather be impaled instead?
nah I think I'd still pick burning. And I don't know if it's necessarily a fetish. It's all irrelevant anyway cause I'll be dead and won't remember. But at least I'll die having an extreme perceptual experience, like a last hurrah to my existence as a life form

Between these 2 options I always lean towards burning to death.

I have nearly drowned a couple of times in the past, so I guess that does deter me from considering that particular way to meet my demise lol.

Plus I am curious to what sorta of repulsive or pathetic behavior I'd exhibit too from burning... various parts of me will surely comment on that as I burn away or lose consciousness... The pondering of one's own demise is always a topic that can bring forth interesting...revelations of the sort.
