Paradox Games

Infinite Citadel

Anyone play any PI games? I'm a big fan of Crusader Kings II, EU3, and I recently bought Victoria II (I like it so far, about to finish my first game). I could never get into EU4 for some reason though. I might do an AAR in the future if enough people care~

I played a lot of EU 4 until it broke and wouldn't let me load any previous saves (probably will reinstall it), played supremacy 1914 with some people from CN but stopped playing (might get back to playing it), what I mostly play is Supreme Ruler 2020 (you should check it out) and games in the Total War series like Attila and Rome 2.

I really want to know what Project Augustus is. Some people have guessed a 4x Space grand strategy game but idk. Paradox has released a bunch of hints, but it'll formally be announced next Thursday iirc.

Here's the hints:

  1. This will be our first new major IP released since the original Crusader Kings over 10 years ago.
  2. Seven and Three are important numbers.
  3. There will be no stabbing of pigs.
  4. Terrain truly matters in this game.
  5. Game Director is Henrik Fåhraeus, 15 year industry veteran, lead designer behind the Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron series.
  6. Elections and Technological Development are important parts of the game.
  7. This is a project we've always dreamt about doing, something all of PI have been involved in, not just the PDS developers.

I played the hell out of Paradox's games. My favorite being Eu4, although I frequently play Darkest Hour and Crusader Kings II as well. I used to play Victoria II a bit, but it kept crashing on me.

I had an issue with Victoria II where it kept crashing whenever I tried to start it through steam. I fixed it with the following advice:

1. Go into the game file
--Computer/HP: C/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/common/Victoria 2
2. Go to the map file, click on cache.
3. Delete all its contents but DO NOT delete the folder.
4. Go back to all of the Victoria 2 folders.
5. Scross down to "v2game" and click it twice.
6. Start the game this way so that it reconfigures your game cache.
7. Exit Victoria 2 and you can now access it through Steam.

Idk if that was the same issue you were having, but it worked for me

I might give it a shot the next time I play Victoria II. I remember doing this before, but forgot it over time I think when I switched PCs or perhaps you needed to do it every once in a while?

Unrelated, I've been messing around with Hearts of Iron 3. It's still intimidating as ever with the military matters and I have to actually use youtube videos and guides to figure it all out, so I never grow quite comfortable playing a major power like the UK, USA, Germany, USSR. My game as Czechoslovakia ended up me refusing the Munich Agreement and being locked at a stalemate with Germany until the end of historical WW2 by myself without it ever triggering the other events and the western allies not helping me at all. I even managed to sack Vienna at one point. Mountaineer soldiers are the greatest.

I still have yet to play any of the HoI games.

Also teaser #8 for Augustus:

Whatever it is, just that it named "Project Augustus" makes me curious

From my Greece game in Hearts of Iron 3. I took of Turkey and Bulgaria (who was an Axis member LOL) then was invaded in a Limited war with Italy. I joined the Commies, but I still have a King so that's interesting. At first, my forces in Bulgaria were slow to respond to them occupying most of Northern Greece until I had split my forces in three. One delayed, one went to southern Greece and pushed north, and the third cut them off from Albania. When they were cut off I had them surrounded in Epirus then wiped them out. I think Around 15 divisons were taken out... basically crippling their European Army. Unsurprisingly, they were doing very bad in Africa against the British after that one. However, the Germans recently initiated Operation Barbarossa and now the rest of the Axis are upon us a unhistorical including Axis Yugoslavia. Somehow the Norwegians kept putting up resistence against the Germans until late 1941. Kudos to them. I'm mostly holding, but the German sent units are making it very very difficult to defend even in my mountains and hills with my veteran mountaineer soldiers who are augmented by artillery and anti-tank as well as a sole light tank brigade. The Yugoslavs have free reign to go into east Thrace and are about to knock on Constantinople's door where I only have a Police unit and two garrison brigades. I'll probably just slowly retreat toward Athens until the end comes or the western allies finally start helping. I'm hoping that my existence alone is making the Axis waste so much manpower in my front so that the Soviets will easily trounce them.

Oh and for some reason Saudi Arabia joined the Axis.Haha.
