Death is a complicated topic. Not many people who die come back (last time I checked, none of them do). So we cant really know.

Heaven is much simpler to think of: it is essentially an endless state of euphoria, without conscious thought.

 
Not everyone goes to Heaven, you go to purgatory first then from their you go to Heaven or Hell. I'd like to think most of us go to Heaven though.

Watch from about 3:30.  When we die, we all go to the same place.  It is described either as paradise or prison depending on the state of our souls.  When we are resurrected, there are ultimately different places prepared depending on judgment.  None of them are a literal fiery pit
