What you want to see depends a lot on what you are interested in.  On the other hand, if you're interested in a diverse array of things, like I am, Europe is great because you can see a lot of different kinds of things.

Mont St Michel is stunning, it was the highlight of a family trip to France/England/Scotland.  The view of the flats from the battlements on top are almost otherworldly.  The most visually stunning place I've ever been.

The Normandy beaches are very interesting, especially the museum about the giant makeshift port that was created.  The rest of my family, who wasn't as interested in military history as I am, really enjoyed that too.

I solo traveled from Turkey to Germany last year.  Turkey, especially Istanbul, was the most interesting culturally for being different and diverse.  Pompeii was the best for history because it's a whole town that you can spend a whole day walking around in and still not see all of it.  It's not like other ruins that tend to be one big thing, or a few things, but a whole town including ordinary homes.  Other ruins tend to bore me after an hour or two, but Pompeii did not.  Croatia and Slovenia have amazing natural scenery and beauty.  Germany (Munich, Dresden, Berlin) had the most interesting modern history and great beer.

The great thing about southeastern Europe: Turkey, Greece, Croatia, etc. is that they are about 30-40% cheaper than western Europe.

There's the castles. Other continents don't have castles. There's culture (unlike Australia). Proper football. Variety of food.
All the food variety has foreign influence, and Australia is made up of our convicts, so Australians don't realy count

My grandfather was stationed in Paris and said it's not the romance style it's portrayed. Heard it's a big rainfall city and other than history isn't as beautiful as Hollywood makes it

One advantage about Europe has over North America or Australia, or parts of Asia, is that there's a lot more diversity packed into a smaller area.  It's often only a few hours train ride to another country.  There is diversity between US states but it's not the same degree of contrast.  The US and Australia have cultures, but we don't have the same degree of diversity within such close proximity.

I can agree to that the US has a lot of diversity but me living here I don't see it as much except for when you go north and they ask you what's sweet tea. Then you go to Europe and there's so many different languages and ideals and art and history

true, but Greece is broke (The EU almost collapsed over there unpaid loans) and all of them, Turkey especially, are slap in the middle of the current migrant crisis. I would avoid for a couple months at least.

All of these places are what they are through massive British influence. Just sayin' :P

North America is one of the best places to go for a nature vacation. You can hike thousands of miles in extremely different climates and landscapes. From Yellowstone, to the Black Hills, to the Grand Canyon, the North American continent is full of some of the grandest and most majestic landscapes on the planet. Everyone underestimates this continent because you guys keep focusing on humans and culture and politics. I'm talking about nature and the land on its own. Europe has nice landscapes, but America is simply larger and more majestic. Asia rivals us definitely

Greece's economy being shit is mostly good for tourists because it makes things cheaper.

I was in Turkey and Greece last April and May, the refugee crisis wasn't as bad as it is now but it was still an issue, and I hardly noticed it when I was there.  I felt very safe in Turkey even though at one point I was only 300 miles from the Syrian border.  Tourists are largely insulated from all of it.

Aye, it makes things cheaper, but you can visibly see the problem in places. and between the time you were there and now, the situation in Turkey has gone to hell in a hand basket. They have basically closed borders. Tensions are high and the UK foreign office has issued a travel warning https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/turkey.

"There is a high threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate and could affect places visited by foreigners. A number of terrorist groups are active in Turkey." and as well as the bombings, "There is a threat of kidnapping near the Syrian border in Turkey."

USA is actually worth travelling. The great cities are nice places - SF, LA, NYC, Boston, Seattle.

Despite what anyone says, I'd still recommend visiting Paris. It's not as "romantic" as the legends say, but it's a great experience to visit.

I'm quite a fan of great cities as most of these are like countries on their own. Like you wouldn't really need to travel Turkey, you just want to go to Istanbul, regardless of what country it is in.

I need to get to Reykjavik at some point or another. Also A eurovision at least once. Maybe when Iceland finally wins I that will be when I go
