It was a hot autumn's day...

Kayser

Well-known member
....and a sticky one at that. Partly because of the humidity and partly because he had spilled ice tea on his pants. "Today's starting off just wonderfully" he mumbled sarcastically as he turned the corner and headed into the bathroom. That day was his first as Radiant's ambassador to Rose and the nerves may have been getting to him. The confirmation was not an easy road for him, his critics did not hold back. "He's too young" "he wasn't even born here, how can he represent us?", he thought scrubbing his pants, it was not the first time he has heard these arguments against him but he was determined to do the best job that he could and he had his work cut out for him. He checked himself in the mirror, "Good enough". Walking back into his office he contemplated the adventure that lay before him, Rose was certainly an interesting job. Only months before one of Radiant's closet allies Syndicate, announced its withdraw from Paragon one of the leading axis of power on the planet. To top it off Rose was a signatory of that former alliance and now the relationship between the two couldn't have been cooler. "Hopefully, that chill can reach us over hear in the jungle"he said looking at the map of Orbis.

"The heat I can deal with, but this humidity is freakn killing me. Isn't it supposed to be Oktoboter?"  Rose lay smack center of the equator and while his home country of Radiant was to the South, most of the topical rains  from the northeast skirted the Dio mountain range and most of their payload before making it to Radiant. "Oh well. Now that I have the damn job I can't go complaining all day can I?" He made his way over to the window, Rose's capital city, Belisarius lay sprawled out before him

"I'll never get over this view." A whisper of a smile crossed his lips. "...ser, Mr. Kayser? Mr. Kayser!" His secretary stood in the doorway. Kayser closed his eyes and soaked in the moment taking a deep breath. He wheeled around his face strictly business "Time to get to work".

“Yes?” Kayser replied after a few moments of silence. “There is someone here to meet you.” Getting up out of his chair, Kayser takes one more look around as a man walks into the the room. The man stood motionless for a brief time as if to analyze the newbie. “How are things suiting you here? My name is Schirm. My office is down the hall but my position is classified.” The man steps forward and they shake hands. “They say you can tell a lot about a man by the grip of his handshake. I look forward to working with you Mr. Kayser.” Kayser stammered, “It’s nice to meet…” But Schirm was already out the door. Kayser moves back to his desk and begins work. He picks up a document and begins to read.

Classified document regarding intercountry cooperation

As you are aware, there is a relatively peaceful tribe of people living on the edge of the southwestern forest of Rose. They are known as The Static. A little background on these people. They live in huts near the treeline of the forest and prefer to be gatherers as oppose to hunting. They worship the Tree Ents who protect the forest and its inhabitants. We originally went to Mensa who promptly turned us down. What we ask of you is this: We want your support in the relocation of these people to make land available to new settlers and fishing settlements along the coast and in the forest. We ask that you pledge 10,000 troops to assist us in their relocation to the northwest peninsula referred to as the inhabitable zone. We will assist in the rebuilding of their huts and the construction of wells. Resistance is expected.

On the map, the red circle is there current location, the yellow circle is their relocation point, and the black line is the route we will take.

In return for your support, we will give you a cure for Rut Death (a pandemic that is sweeping through The Knights Radiant that causes swelling in the throat and eventually death). If these terms are agreeable, please sign below and give this document to Schirm. He will run you through the planning and will be the on sight when The Static are relocated.

Lord Penguin was sitting at his desk, doing research on other nations. Obviously, that wasn't his real name, just a code name he had insisted on using as part of his alias in the Radiant spy agency. His acting skills and his wits had caught the eye of the top officials of the RSA, as they would consistently give him dangerous missions in hot-zones. Lord Penguin was very excited, as he had heard that top brass was going to give him a mission pertaining to the rising tensions this Oktober. Top brass already knew that the Syndicate would stand with us in the case of a war, and that UPN would probably sway more to the other side.

I got up and hopped in his car. The old sedan was used to keep my cover, as a flashy car would draw too much attention. I went to the dead drop, a stadium in the new city known as Sphenisca. It was under a lot of construction, but I admired the tenacity by the construction man. I went through the dead drop, and I picked up the mission log from the false panel in one of the walls. I went back to my house and decoded the mission.

Mission Log: Oktober Espionage

Agent: Lord Penguin

Alias: Lando Parks

Backstory: Lando Parks is a successful business man hailing from the South Radiant, and a big supporter of the merge. At the helm of a company that manufactures weapons, he looks forward to any upcoming war.

Location: Rose

When you get there, meet with Diplomats Kayser and Schirm. Say: I wish to speak with the Rosey Cheeked Diplomats. Their pictures are shown here:

END OF REPORT- BURN MESSAGE

I chuckled a little. Rosey cheeked diplomats? Isn't that a bit much? I lit the paper on fire and watched as it burned. I packed his clothes for the journey in a suit case. I put my laser wrist cuffs in the bag. I also put two plastic disk charges in the front pocket, and an unassembled AR-15. I put a Smith and Wesson Model 60 in my hidden sock holster and holstered a Beretta M9. I took my briefcase filled with my many spy things and quickly boarded the private jet obtained for him on his way to Rose. They crossed Rose airspace when the pilot gave me my next orders. He told me to throw all of my spy gear overboard. He told me to keep the suitcase, as they would find a way to get that past the "surprise" security inspection when they landed. He also told me that my guns would be fine, and handed me a map on where to get to Rose's capital, Belisarius. He also gave me a new identity.

Identity Card Oktoberfest Espionage:

Alias: Lando Parks

Real Backstory: A mercenary from the Knight's Radiant, from the city of Sphenisca.

All other information is the same.

Damn it. Oh well, at least I can keep my guns.

I landed at the airport, got through the security check, and hopped in a taxi on the way to Belisarius. I took in the view. This city was beautiful, with large skyscrapers and open parks. I went to the embassy of the Knight's Radiant, and paid the taxi driver in cash. He sped away, hoping for another ride before the day was over.

The sun was setting as I walked into the building. I gave my credentials as I sized up the security guards. I could take them.

"Sir. Sir. SIR!" the secretary yelled.

"Yes?" I responded,

"You may proceed."

I dragged my bag across the floor, and took the elevator where Kayser and Schirm would be. I found two people matching the photos, so I tried my line.

"I wish to speak with the Rosey Cheeked Diplomats." I said.

"Who?" The one on the left said.

"FUCK! These were the wrong people. I fucked up bad." I thought to myself. I was about to press the SOS button embedded in my tooth when the other one spoke.

"Relax. We are just messing with you. I am Schirm, this is Kayser. I take it that you are the guard sent to accompany us?"

"Damn it. This is an escort mission." I thought. "Yes." I said.

"Good. We have a lot to fill you in on."

I entered their office and saw stacks of papers. I figured this would be a long ass night.

Walking into a strange room, I couldn't help but feel lost as to what I was supposed to be doing.

"Hello?" I called out,

.... No response. I sweat a bit under my mask, hoping that someone would show themselves, but as the time went by... I looked more like a creep, than a dubious member. I walked a bit further into the building, hoping to find something.

*Sorry, I didn't know where I should be :I *

After a long night of briefing and many coffee mugs strewn across the room, I finally got fed and cut straight to the point.

"... and then the pro-Static people will have to-" Schirm was saying

"Why do you need an escort agent?" I blurted out, interrupting him.

"Well. A few days ago, a major arms stockpile fell into the hands of some "rebels". I am in-line for the Emperor's seat. And, as you definitely do not know, the Emperor has a rare form of cancer, giving him 1-2 months to live. Since he has a god complex, he refuses to designate a successor, creating the perfect recipe for a bloody power struggle. Some of my top advisers have been warning me to get a bodyguard, and I found your services thanks to my friend Kayser here. He speaks very highly of you." Schirm responded.

"Yes. I have helped a lot in many diplomatic missions and you can trust me with utmost certainty." I said

I made a mental note to tell the RSA top brass about the impending power struggle at Rose.

"Well, not a moment more to lose." Kayser said, "Let's go."

Sorry for posting so soon, I just wanted to beat the King of Spam thread.

"This proposal form Rose is an interesting one"

he thought as the group made their way to the elevator.

"To think that Rose would reach out to Radiant so soon after one of our closest allies severed the political link tying them together. Its...weird".

Nevertheless, he had done his job in referring the proposal up to his superiors. Committing troops into a foreign territory without immediate safety concerns was way above his pay grade.

"Ha, let the top brass sort it out"

What he would do is prepare his station to receive his orders and the troops if necessary when the decision had been made. To that end he'd have to sharpen up his field combat training.

"Are you sure about this", asked Shirm. "I heard its been a good while since you had to go into the field".

"I've been a pencil pusher for too long now, I need to hit something" replied Kayser. "Who am I kidding, I only just got this job and I'm already itching to get into the field. Somethings never change, he thought

"Hmph, no real man would give up this opportunity"  , interjected Lando giving Kayser a nice punch on the arm. "It'll do you some good".

"Yeah it will", agreed Kayser

Still, he couldn't shake the fact of how odd the request was. To willingly accept soldiers into your country. Rose and Radiant didn't even have a treaty, the relationship was cordial at best

"Just, what is the Emperor of Rose up to", he thought to himself

Just as the group was entering the shooting range a member of Kayser's staff called out to him. They had just received a telegram when they left his office.

"Let me see it hear",  commanded Kayser.

He ripped the letter open raced through it's contents. The letter read as follows.

Department of State

                                                                Date: Oktober, 2nd 2015

Subject: Upcoming Treaty signing,

Participants:

The head ambassadors form our state departments

The King wishes to inform you that we have been notified by our allies the Syndicate of an upcoming announcement of their newest treaty. the Syndicate shall announce its MUTUTAL DEFENSE OPTIONAL AGGRESSION treaty with Mensa HQ in a week's time. For those of you in potential hostile foreign assignments, prepare your stations accordingly. Do not act rashly if the situation does not call for it or you are in immediate danger. Be sure to keep up constant communications.

END MESSAGE

"Well...fuck" he said, with the slightest hint of a shiver ringing up his spine as he thought to himself, "Did it suddenly get cold in here?"

He turned around to his two companions with, massaging his eyebrows to ease the sudden headache  "Looks like things are spicing up a bit"

Suddenly, a white flash ignited the air. The last thing the trio heard was the laugh of the joker as his hackers took over the PA systems. Suikoden had won.
