The Bass section, I play the piano, and the rhythmic repetition on the left is generally more interesting for me than the melody that the right hand plays.

I also used to play the bass clarinet, but stopped after 8th grade because I didn't have the time to practice.

I played the piano when I was young, for my colleges marching band I play the bass trombone but I have experience on the trombone, baritone, tuba and french horn. I'm a band nerd.

Oh question didn't say listening or playing. It depends so much on band composition. Like if you take the drummer from A and put him in B, it might not work at all.

I do play drums, but only because it's a lot easier than guitar.

Drums are necessary but I've never really liked them. That could be because almost every drummer I've been around was quite obnoxious.

Everyone seems to really like lead, but without background instrumentals or vocals, would the song really be the same?  You need all parts of music to create the same tone of the song.

It could be either I guess, usually musicians play an instrument that they enjoy listening to
