Carbon Tax: a tax on fossil fuels, especially those used by motor vehicles, intended to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide. Basically, taxing companies because their emitting CO2 in hopes of reducing carbon emission (theoretically).

Some say that a carbon tax helps make sure that we could slow down climate change while others would say that a carbon tax is ineffective and thus useless. What do you think ma boi? Here is an article if you want to know more about the debate on carbon tax. https://www.usnews.com/debate-club/is-a-carbon-tax-a-good-idea

If you want CO2 emissions reduced, it's the least costly way of doing it, so there's no reason not to support it.

Cap and trade systems could work too. Basically, as an example, it's when the government gives out trade units to companies who pollute below the set cap, and these companies can then sell these trade units to companies to pollute above the cap. Over time, the gov't gives out less and less of the trade units and thus companies have incentives to decrease emissions.

In the U.S we had a carbon emmisions tax when Obama was president and many companies became angry and voted for Trump who would erase the tax. So in realilty this tax always has a backlash in a democratic society, so it wont work if canidates pledge to remove it or to put it in place when they are elected or it will switch every 4 years. I opt for innovation and competiton for renewable energy VS non-reneable companies which will turn out in more effeicent and hopefully less polluting way to obtain energy. Thus why I clicked other.

This is not true.  The United States has NEVER had a carbon emissions tax, and Obama did not implement one.  In fact, Obama preferred cap-and-trade over a carbon tax.  You are woefully misinformed.
