Battle Brother - Running TKR as a mercenary company

Note: Not sure if this belongs here or the forum game and spam section since I don't think I'll be doing lengthy reports. This is just for fun and giggles

Intro

Battle Brothers is a game about commanding a medieval mercenary company with the aim being to gain riches and glory while trying to not lose too many people at the same time. There is permanent death and people do die. A lot

Anyhow, halfway through my current playthrough, I decided to start randomly naming people after TKR member. Let's just say, because of the nature of the game and the fact that I'm playing the game relatively blind, things have not been going well...

So ladies and gentlemen, start taking bets now on who'll die next. Here's the current lineup and roster

Starting from the leftmost side top row:

Extra note: Right now I'm choosing people to name on random. if you're interested in having someone named after you (or are on the obituary and want another chance) then post a name and a title you want (each must be within 14 letter character limit space included) and I'll name people after you whenever I recruit someone new.

Micchan has a nice beard, I don't look so friendly, Schirm and Nizam look ridiculously handsome, but I don't envy Kayser's and Japan's avatars lol. Looking forward to the stories!

tbh, i havent mess with the character appearance customization yet. I sort of just assign random character to people. Might mess around with appearance later

nah not really. But all I know is fuck orcs. They took down half my people in a single battle

Well, Patriot, AC, IC get ripped apart in close combat>warriors. Creepy, Smith get taken out by marksmen> high importance people, the planners. Lordship and Blackie, erm, get chopped up. Not going to explain that one, but they have got some enemies for different reasons lol.

Nah not quite. Sure you don't have a shield but you get to sit in the back behind all the shield bearer. Polearms have a range of 2 tiles and can attack over the shieldbearer's shoulder. Same thing with bannerman. apparently, a banner counts as a 2 tile stabby spear

Then again, in the obituary I posted, half of the people who died are backline people so who knows what'll happen

Since several people died before I posted this thread, I don't mind "reviving" some people as new recruits. Just say the word!

I'll post the next update in a few hours. Only thing I will say is that someone did die

Update 1: Orcs and Brigands

Nothing interesting happened at first. Went around and did some delivery missions and escort mission, no battle. That is until some nobleman hired us to kill a group of marauding orcs

TKR vs Orcs

See that guy in the big red circle? That's an orc warrior. The rest are orc youngs. The youngs are pretty easy to kill but the warrior is a pain to take down. The problem is that the standard battle tactic is to have shieldbearer engage the enemy in melee and block them from reaching the backrow while the backrow people (polearms and archers) attack the enemy by taking swings/potshot over the shoulder of shieldbearers.

The problem with orc warriors is that in addition to being heavily armoured, they have the ability to plow through the frontline and attack the vulnerable backliner. Which is exactly what happened to Redfive and Nizam Adrienne when the orc warrior charged through Redfive.

Redfive managed to hold off the orc warrior from killing Adrienne long enough for others to finish off the other orcs and reinforce them. Unfortunately, Redfive died in the process, chopped in half by another orc young. Meanwhile, Koso ran away.

With that messy business done with, 2 new recruits were hired

  Floating hippo, Resident Omnivore who will be replacing Redfive

  Sargun, Glorious Beard who will be in reserve for now.

TKR vs Brigands

Ran into a brigand hideout and decided to "reappropriate" some goods

Not much happened. Was a pretty easy fight since we had the high ground and managed to Obi-Wan the brigands to death

Update 2: Greenskin Exterminator 

It looks like a lot of people are having problems with marauding greenskins. Taking advantage of this, we managed to snag up some contracts which will hopefully pay out easy money. The mayor of some town asked us to guard the town from any greenskin raiding party. While waiting around, we were approached by a slightly insane man who's willing to pay us money to go chop off a finger off a notorious soon-to-be executed criminal. So I asked Yir for help and... wait hold on a second.

bro wtf.

Unfortunately, there's no time to mourn for that finger. the greenskins are here.

Greenskin: Goblin edition

Seems like we'll be facing a small party of goblins this time. Unlike their distant cousin, the orc, goblins are small and fragile. However, they're significantly more nimble and have a tendency to be a general pain in the ass.

Everything went fine at first, there's only 6 goblins after all. We got this. Then Hippo almost die because apparently, goblins doesn't give a fuck about armor

We won the fight but Hippo doesn't look good at all

tbh, apart from the company's resident omnivore nearly dying that fight was a bit of a letdown but hey, a boring fight is better than dead people

With that fight done, Sargun will be replacing Hippo until he recovers. Which is nice since we got another greenskin killing contract. This time, we'll be taking down a small orc camp which have been terrorizing a nearby town

TKR vs Orc 2: The smackdown

You may know by now how much I hate orcs. It seems like this time, there's not that many orcs compared to last time but I'm not taking any chances. So before the battle, I went ahead and brought a wardog and some nets

Initially, the fight went much better than I was expecting. Milord managed to net one of the two orc warriors in place while the rest took care of some of the orc youngs After that, the group turned their attention to beating down the orc warriors

This is where things get a bit hairy. Due to a series of misses, the netted orc warrior wasn't taken out fast enough which allows the orc youngs to sneak in a few attacks. Saintly Bloody was pretty close to running away while Sargun was literally on the edge of death. Despite that, we did managed to took down the orcs without anyone dying

seriously guys, stop giving me a heart attack.

With the orcs taken care of, we need a new recruit. Hippo still haven't recovered from his wounds and Sargun will certainly need to rest for a long time.
