Tornado but not directly on my house (and I don't have a basement anyway)

Floods but my house is at a higher point so it was safe

Good to hear!

So many people have had stuff above but nobody has told us their story! come on guys :D

Been hit by an earthquake twice (both really minor, no damage done, everything just moved a few inches) and had to shelter from a non-tropical storm bad enough that it ripped the siding and shingles off most of the houses in my old neighborhood, as well as move a bunch of cars around.

Was in a couple earthquakes in Japan, the strongest was a 5.5 with some decent aftershooks.  Grew up in the midwest so tornadoes were a common occurance.  Luckily one never came close.  Went through a few typhoons in Japan, some tropical storms/ hurricanes in North Carolina and Sandy and Irene in New Jersey.

I live in Minnesota...  a little north of tornado alley in the U.S., but once every few years we have to hide from tornadoes.  I have seen five in my lifetime, the largest ripped apart St. Peter, Minnesota in 2006 which I followed with my vehicle and then proceeded to help people out of two different homes.  In May of 1998, when I was 15, for two weeks we owed two homes just  based on timing of when we bought the one and had to wait to sell the other... the day my parents closed, a tornado ripped through between our two homes (only about a mile apart), and we had damage at both homes.  I spent days cleaning up the yards, cutting up trees, fixing the roofs with my Dad.

I had to shelter from a tropical storm that came through in June of 2001 while I was in training for the military.  I don't think it was a hurricane, but the wind still whipped amazingly a lot for half a day.  The rain was terrible.  I count it because it was the worst I've ever seen for a long period of time.

Blizzards should be on there...  ever get stuck out in one?  My wife and I got stuck the first winter we were married between her parents and my parents homes (75 miles apart).  We skidded off the road, had to stay in the car for about ten hours until the morning sun allowed a tow truck to see us.  Thankfully I'm a Minnesota kid and know how to keep safe and was well prepared during a blizzard (Extra blankets, food, candles, batteries, shovel to clear snow, etc)  Also - if you don't carry kitty litter in your car in the winter in snowy areas, you are doing it wrong...  fifty points in the made up game if you know what it is for.  -1 if you don't know...
