Carbon Taxes are regressive and a horrible solution to solving climate change.

Carbon taxes on everyday things discriminate poor people. I find it difficult to express my views on this topic very well generally because I'm so unknowledgable on scientific issues. There is a youtuber in Germany who explains my point of view on this really well in one of her videos (she holds a PhD in Chemistry) but sadly there are no English subtitles.

I don't like these options. Yes I agree the climate is changing, but I don't agree that there is a climate emergency.

Lets be honest, I'm lazy. I'd be willing to pay more with carbon tax than give up on something completely

Carbon tax in my mind is a decent idea. You will tax the consumer on how much their habits pollute the enviroment. No matter rich or poor.

My position is akin to Pascal’s Wager.

I’m no expert, though am happy to do without and make other changes if it contributes to reducing the purported human impact.  A concern is that the standard of living in the western world has never been better, and with great waste, so that morally I think that an effort should be made by those who can.  I do not think the expectation held by the militant greenies that instant global change should occur, because it would result in an undue strain on those least able to support it.
 

Having said that, I am yet to be convinced that human effects on climate change are significant,  or that anything we do is likely to make a difference.

Is it even a given that we need to give up conveniences? What would that even mean compared to using more efficient options?
