For me, it would be no. Germany didn't even get a say in how the treaty would be. Not to mention that Germany wasn't totally responsible for the war. What Germany was doing was respecting a defensive treaty they had with Austria-Hungary. Also, paying large war reparations, demilitarizing by a lot, and giving up a lot of land at the same time is just too brutal. Not to mention that this would help in the rise of Hitler and the rise of nationalism in Germany as the Germans would become angry (along with the help of the Great Depression).

Yes, as Germany was mainly responsible for the conflict. A-H would have done the square route of fuck all if they were not emboldened by German guarantees.

the concept of fairness in politics both national and international is stupid and doesn't exist and is only really important because people feel some need to interpret it in terms that make sense to them, which is highly subjective and depends on spin and people's willingness to buy into spin

its more about your goal and the results you achieve and versailles didn't achieve good ends for the victors in the long run since it set up the conditions that would devastate most of the parties involved within thirty years. you can't always say that an action was stupid because of its eventual results because its possible that you couldn't really have predicted it but there were parties pushing positions that probably would have been less harmful in the long run, so I answered no not because of "fairness" but because it didn't achieve good ends and was never likely to

I think it wasn't fair in that it failed to balance the objectives of the allies. I see penalizing Germany to be the correct solution, as out of the three central powers, they were the main instigator and leader of the coalition. On the other hand, they set themselves up for failure entirely. It wasn't a fair treaty for either side, because it promised the deaths of both sides children in the next war.

No.

No

no

no

no

and

no!

Germany wasn't even the one who started the war in the first Place!

that little mantle goes to Austria-Hungary (who was pretty much destroyed by the end though.)

if austria-Hungary didn't get all shitty with Serbia for killing there little Arch-duke, the unjust ultimatum wouldn't of been shoved on Serbias door step.

Should Germany of payed reprimands to France and britian?

Yes! Of cause!

But the stealing of German land! Disgrace and shame te Germans were made to feel.

God if anyone started WW2 it was the allies for there bulling of Germany.

Depends on Point of view.

For France, it was totally justified, as they could get no confirmations from the US or the UK that they would be protected the next time Germany invaded(people need to remember that Germany also attacked France in the 1870s).

From any other standpoint, the treaty does seem quite unreasonable.
