What do you think about wether the summer game should be postponed because of Zika and Brazilian corruption scandals/ political unrest.

I say we move it to a different location due to the instability, lack of infrastructure, and diseases in brazil.

^Same. I think they should establish a permanent home for the olypics. Like hold the summer ones on a Greek Isle and the winter ones in Canada or one of the Nordic Countries. That way individual countries don't have to pour massive amounts of money into a stadium which they'll use once and be done with. If there is one permanent location, countries can come together with the IOC to build and maintain up to date infrastructure at a lower cost.

And only those countries get the prestige of The Olympics. Pass.

Reform the IOC first so that we don't get crappy countries hosting the Olypmic. Hell, Chicago would've been a much better choice than Brazil

Stick the Winter Olympics in the Arctic, that way we can make a statement about global warming, and no one technically owns it.

Create an artificial Island near the equator, and host the summer Olympics there, and make sure it never falls out of international jurisdiction.

Problems solved.

I like that it moves around, it provides motivation and stimulation to multiple nation's economies. Even if for a short time. And it normally goes well. Unless we're talking about Sochi, Russia. That was a disaster! Communism at its finest!

First of all, usually, it hurts a countries economy more than it helps it because the IOC gets most of the money. Second, that's the problem, no one is willing to host the Olympics except countries that need the political propaganda like Russia. For the next winter games, we are down to either Mongolia or China as our host, because all other countries dropped out. They are a huge tax on the economy and the governments resources that would be better spent on projects that will actually benefit the citizens for more than two weeks.

Damn, alright. Respect

However, I do not like the idea of a stationary games/ They would have to be outside of any nation's borders otherwise that nation gets a lot of prestige, as @Robert E Lee said. That seems fair

Clearly why we need to start building Islands to host the olympics, and not let anyone live on them.

SECONDED!

A motion has been made a properly seconded. I now open the floor to any discussion of the motion before it is properly put to a no-confidence vote.

We could also declare for example one of the Greek Isles to be the 'Common Heritage of Mankind' like the Antarctic and Space are and do the same with wherever they decide to hold the Winter Olympics. That way the Olympics are a celebration of Global Unity and Athletic prowess rather than a political prop. If we do it that way, each country would get to represent a part of its heritage during the Opening Ceremony and then all nations would be recognized for their contributions to the betterment of humanity, however small and no matter what negatives they are outweighed by. In a way, where the Olympics are held would kinda be like Washington DC; while they are inside a state(country), they are governed by all who hold an interest in the Olympics. While DC needs reprentation in Congress, the countries impacted by hosting the Olympics near where their country is would already have representatives because they participate in the games.

I hate Washington DC. It was established as a governing district and then people decided to live there and bitch about lack of representation. It seems to me, if you have to chose living in one house that's 1 mile from work with no representation and another house that's 2 miles from work with representation, I would settle for the mile difference. Washington DC should have no schools, and no representation in government or the election. Those people should be represented in Virginia, Maryland, or whatever other state they and their families seek permanent residence.
