I don't see me being a pimp, but voted yes just because natural stuff is better than plastic.

I'm okay with fake fur. But I can't get behind the real fur stuff.

I'm sorry. I don't think it's right for animals to die just so we can have fur coats or socks or blankets or whatever.

I do agree with how the Natives did their furs though.  They used the fur from the animals that they killed for food. If I'm remembering correctly they used every bit of the animal. The meat for food. Skin and fur for clothing blankets. Bones I think they made utienciles out of. They didn't waste anything.

But these hats seem so warm....and make the people sexy

Not about fur so much but skin. .... replacement products based on oil are horrible to enviroment.

This is why I love this topic, it makes the greenies' heads explode.

A: Stop killing animals for their fur and leather.

B: Alternatives aren't better.

A: But look at that dead animal.

C: But look at that smog.
I'll take the smog if I had to take one, thank you.

Or you know just not wear fur or fake fur there is plenty of clothing options.

I wouldn't wear it... I'd sell it, hell yeah. And many species of large mammals have gone extinct because we've poached them for their furs until there weren't any more of them. So that's why killing animals for fur is bad.

Alternatives are much better, why? Because they don't drive animals into extinction. Cotton fabrics are pretty good, if we learned to grow it sustainably and maybe if we started recycling cotton more. You can make clothes out of hemp fiber, man. That's a million times better than fur. So your point is moot.

You can say it was already dead. And you can even say the animal was farmed or killed for meat. After all, leather whatever is perfectly fine.

But it's horribly unfashionable. And it's unfashionable in the worst way possible. Like if you wore a Rolex or $100,000 handbag, people will praise you for the pretty thing then talk about you behind your back.

"Where did they get it? Did they rob someone? Are they high class escorts on the side? I heard she's an engineer; do you think she takes bribes? Is that a squirrel coat or is it some endangered animal? It does look like roadkill."

You'll be deceived into thinking it looks nice on you but it just makes everyone hate you, partly out of jealousy.

We already subliminally think like this. Which is why this poll is on the fence and not like 90% yes.

I voted no, simply because I'm unlikely to wear any item of clothing anyone gave me, I already have perfectly good clothes that suit my own personal taste. Fur also seems unpractical.

As for whether or not it should be legal or accepted to produce and distribute fur, initially I'd say it's up to the consumer. If no one bought any fur then there would be no fur trade. But I also believe that there will always be at least some people somewhere in the world who do want to wear fur, so unless you criminalize it you'll never be able to get rid of the fur trade entirely.

One thing is for sure, it needs to be regulated to prevent more species of animals from going extinct.
