Of Unions

Do you think Unions work in this day and age?

I'm for tilting the power toward workers.  If workers demand more than they should, a business will not give in, because they can't make money.  If a company demands more than they should, the workers will take it anyway and pee in bottles to keep their jobs- because they have no power.

It is in the unions interest to come to a fair deal.  It is in the company's interest to screw over the worker because there are millions more if the set you have quits

This is not a yes or no question. Unions can be good or bad but for the most part companies try to screw over their workers and unions try to screw over the companies and the workers.

I think this is more a US question than a UK question the only union i am in is the FBU which I find is too political for my liking. Also it’s always dealing with historical pension issues things that don’t effect me because I am a newer firefighter and this is pre 2000.

only reason I am in the union is in case I get hauled over the coals for doing something that is right but against policy for that extra reassurance

Unions are just a breeding ground for budding politicians.  I’ve yet to find one that genuinely does the job what people pay their dues for.  They’re as corrupt as the political wankers they fund.

Unions are a good thing if you don't live in a country where politicans constantly try to kill any union whatsoever. I mean, sure, a lot of top people in unions are complete assholes. But in my country, we have unions with millions of members that have achieved and continue to achieve a lot for workers.
