Genuinely depends on the game. Visually stunning games can over-rely on their graphics to cover up for terrible gameplay or a bad story. On the other hand, games like Disco Elysium are spectacular games that rely very little on graphics.

I still enjoy the original ffvii.  I enjoy it when games have good graphics, but its not a factor I consider when choosing a game
