I've been called out for not being politically correct before and it pisses me off. I'm not saying it to be disrespectful. I'm saying it because that's the word I grew up with. And at the time, no one ever got offended by that word. I've gotten chewed out before for using the word "lame" and someone approached me and said that she was extremely offended by that word because of some "disability connotation".
Hell, we can't even call Asian Carp what they are anymore because "it's offensive to Asian". (side note: That might actually just be Minnesota- http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/381200/minnesota-renames-asian-carp-because-name-offensive-molly-wharton) If they stopped taking offense and thought about maybe they would think maybe they're called Asian Carp because they're from fucking ASIA. What about Merry Christmas? Instead they have to say Happy Holidays because people.
I'm not a racist person and I try to avoid stereotypes but everyone who isn't politically correct gets called out and offends everyone. Honestly, Trumps stance on political correctness is one of the few (very very few) things about Trump I agree with.

what pisses me off the most is people THINK they have a constitutionally guaranteed and gawd given RIGHT to not be offended.... grow a pair, nowhere does anything even remotely even imply shit like that. I am offended that you used the word "the". "the" (definition): denoting one or more people or things already mentioned or assumed to be common knowledge.
You assume that I have prior knowledge when I actually don't.... which means you expected me to have more knowledge than I actually do.... which means you're saying that I'm stupid for not having necessary the knowledge to comprehend "the"... which means you're insulting my intelligence.

Respect is something that's earned not freely handed out. You want my respect then show me why you deserve it.... dont expect my respect if you do some stupid shit and then get mad because i called you out (not you personally Queen M, just anyone in general). Under being politically correct doctrines I aint allowed to do that.... I believe in honesty and beung blunt... you want my HONEST opinion, then ask me a question... you want a boost to your ego then dont ask me because I wont give it to you if your being a dumbass (incidentally, calling someone stupid or a dumbass is also not politically correct)

Are you saying that you can't respect someone as a fellow human being until they do something for you to earn it? See, my thing is I respect everyone until they give me a reason not to and, even then, I won't go out of my way to say something that is unnecessary unless they earn it. You can be honest and blunt all day long, but you don't need to be offensive to be either of those things.
Also, calling someone a dumbass or stupid is not a matter of political correctness. That is legit someone being overly sensitive, imo (especially if they earn it, lol)

offensive is a subjective term, that's the problem... I am offended by people who wear sandals with socks, I dont let my being offended get in the way of people wearing socks and sandals... the whole politically correct movement revolves around an intangible term "being offended". no where is anyone granted the right to not be offended... anywhere on the planet.... ever...
the worst people using this term is "evangelical christians" getting all up in your face with their religious bullshit then screaming they are offended when you get back in their face and tell them what idiots they are and that most "mature" people give up believing in imaginary friends well before puberty.
another group is "victimized people" people who LET themselves be victims, not genuine victims of physical affront to them.... it's easy to be a victim, it relieves you of any responsibility for your own actions and choices... These people are almost as bad as the 1st group... and you see them all the time... I lost my bla because i did bla, pity me and gimmie free bla...
I can go on and on about the numerous types of "politically correct" groups - none of which have anything to do with racism...
and like I said, respect is something earned, not given... that's one of the problems with the world today, everyone wants somethiung they didnt earn.... respect, handouts, jobs, pity, etc....

LOL, you being offended by sandals with socks is understandable. I feel the same. But it's not quite on par with jabs at things that are a bit more delicate and nuanced (race, sexuality, gender, disability, religion, socioeconomic statues, etc.). Like I said, it's about being a decent person.
The issue of respect is a different conversation, I think. I understand where you're coming from but I think the giving of respect is common decency until it's no longer deserved. I will respect you as a fellow person who has made it so far in this life, still breathing, and doing your best . If you do or say x, y, z, you lose my respect. Just how I roll.
