...That said, I'm not mad it's always on during Christmas.

My boyfriend and I have this argument every year. Yes it is a Christmas movie, no matter what he says.

Jason Kelce explained it best - it’s a movie you can and will watch at any time of year so it’s not a Christmas Movie. 
 

For example, you wouldn’t watch A Christmas Story in June or something. You only watch it at Christmas. Die Hard you can watch any time of year, so it’s not a Christmas movie.

I do think it comes down to this. Though personally for me it's not a franchise I would watch any other time of the year, which is why I consider it a Christmas movie.
