Depends. Rice is a big part of the normal diet here. So spoon gets used a lot. Sometimes I eat meals without rice though, in which case the fork is number one. I also like buying sushi or maki, because it gives me an excuse to bust out one of the pairs of chopsticks I got as a set of five (pairs of chopsticks) from a woodcarving shop in Sendai, Japan. In that case, I get to practice my (modest) chopstick skills.
There’s also a practice where we eat grilled stuff and rice with just our hands (after washing them of course). That usually happens during a day at the beach, where we just use banana leaves on top of a wicker dish as a plate.
