I understand that Pancake day and Mardi Gras are both Shrove Tuesday , so what do you usually call the day? And how do you celebrate it?

So for me i call it both shrove tuesday and pancake day but i mainly call it pancake day , and last night i "celebrated" by eating pancakes.

Fasnacht (Carnival)

There is a tradition where in november a bear gets locked into a tower (not a real one anymore ^.^) and on carnival they release him

Then there is a parade through the city for two more days with a music style called "Guggemusig" and everyone is in costumes and throws confetti around~

also we eat those things called "Fasnachtschüechli" traditionally.

In Ireland we call it Shrove Tuesday but only the much older people take the religious side of it seriously. The young people spend the day eating as much pancakes as you can and the older people go to church to get ash rubbed on their forehead(somehow it makes you more holy...never got the point of it)
