Today marks the death of Saint George on the 23rd April 303 AD.
Saint George also know as George of Lydda, was a soldier of Cappodocian Greek origins and a member of the praetorian guard for the emperor Diocletian, he was sentenced to death for refusing to recant his Christian faith.
His patronages are many and include England, Aragon, Catalonia, Georgia, Palestine, Portugal, he is also patron saint of Soldiers, Archers, Cavalry, Farmers, Saddle Makers, Sheperds, Sheep, Lepers, Skin diseases and Syphilis.
But since the middle ages the legend of St. George slaying a Dragon has become the most famous part of the Saints story , and so todays poll will be about Dragons.
