This is basically same as I do, since I always go to visit my grandma. She has a fake tree though.

We have a small (30 inchish) fake tree that we put up.  I imagine we'll get a bigger one when I have a better paying job.  My son loves the christmas tree and pushes to put it up before Thanksgiving

I’d go for a plantation tree vs a plastic fantastic one!  Never had one though.
