Murder as a punishment for murder is illogical.

The judicial system is not flawless and murdering an innocent person is something that can not be reversed.

(In the US) Executing the death penalty costs several times more than sending someone to prison for life without parole.

Norway should've put that guy away for life alyster. The mistake there was the decision to only lock the guy up for 21 years. Honestly, is there a significant difference to the outside world if an individual gets put away for life without parole or if they get executed?
To avoid the risk of accidentally executing an innocent person (let's not forget several times people have exonerated days if not hours before they were supposed to be executed), just lock the person away for life without parole.

Oh also I want to add: In Germany, the theoretical maximum prison sentence is also "only" minimum 15 years which is not a lot. However, we have something called "Sicherungsverwahrung" where people who are deemed a danger to society are being locked up for most likely the rest of their lives even though their prison sentence has officially ended.
